Description:

Part of our Summer Light, Autumn Fast Collection. With the lower temperatures of late summer and autumn come more condensation, increasing the likelihood of damp gear inside and outside your tent. Like the rest of our Summer Light, Autumn Fast Collection, this sleeping bag is ‘Autumnised’, built to repel damp and drizzle. At the same time, it’s incredibly light, helping you travel fast.

The Minix is an ultralight sleeping bag with mixed insulation. There's a warm layer of 900 down in full box construction above the body, and a narrower Primaloft base, which adds a stable layer of insulation to your sleeping mat and resists ground damp. The Primaloft base also remains incredibly warm when compressed, giving the added benefit of a welcome boost to the insulation performance of your ground mat.

It's a little heavier than PHD's classic Minimus, but it's noticeably warmer, with a rating of 0°C. The water-resistant Ultrashell outer adds performance, excelling in tents with condensation or crowded with wet gear.

We make the Minix in 16 different sizes so you can get just the right fit for you.

The Minix is a year-round performer, built for people who like to go out and camp whatever the weather. Of course it gives good value in fine weather too, but it will have a special appeal for those of us who know what it's like living on the north-west side of Europe.

£73 less than standard pricing.

Only available August and September.

Ultrashell (weight: 40 gsm)

One of the lightest of PHD's coated materials. This ripstop nylon provides complete wind block and good water resistance at minimal weight. Ultrashell gives an excellent upgrade to performance with very little weight penalty.

Superlight MX fabric (weight: 32 gsm)

A mini-ripstop nylon with excellent tear strength, MX is the pick of the superfine 15 denier downproof materials. We have tested lighter fabrics, but most have had significant drawbacks, while our confidence in MX is based on several years of extensive use in both our ultralight and our high mountain gear.

900 Fillpower Down

European goose down of very high quality. A truly excellent down with large clusters, consistent quality and lively long-term performance. More on our down insulation.

Construction

This bag has an insulating straight wall baffle system on top (no straight-through stitching). Straight wall is the lightest of all baffle sytems. In cross section it looks like this:

On the bottom stitch-through seams are used to minimise weight. More on sleeping bag construction.

An "impressively light all-rounder that you could use for backpacking in most UK conditions bar deep winter ... It lofts nicely and in the context of the mild warmth of early June feels lofty and impressively warm for such a lightweight sleeping bag ... There are lighter, all-down bags out there, but the Minix seems like a brilliant balance of warmth and weight ... If you're after a lightweight bag for year-round backpacking or bivying that's not going to curl up and cry at the first hint of wetness we reckon the Minix is a winner and at the price a bit of a bargain with it."
Jon Doran, OutdoorsMagic Review.

"Superb quality. Hand made in the UK from the best and most functional materials. I really like using the Minix. The freedom of movement inside of the sleeping bag is good. The Minix packs nice and small and lofts very quickly at camp. If you want a sleeping bag for 3-season trips that’s water-resistant, light, has a small pack size and is toasty warm, consider the Minix"

"A good choice for a light summer sleeping bag".
