Description:

This limited edition M.Degree 300 Down Sleeping Bag is £232 less than our standard M.Degree 300 'K' in water-resistant Hypershell. Part of our Summer Light, Autumn Fast Collection.

With later summer and autumn’s lower temperatures comes more condensation, increasing the likelihood of damp gear inside and outside your tent. Like the rest of our Summer Light, Autumn Fast Collection, this bag is ‘Autumnised’, built to repel damp and drizzle. At the same time it’s incredibly light, helping you travel fast.

It’s designed with an eye towards mountain marathon racers, lightweight backpackers, bike-packers, multistage ultra runners, lightweight campers and wilderness trampers – but well suited to anybody who wishes to move fast and light.

The top of the bag uses box-wall construction to allow optimum down lofting, and stitch-through construction on the base sheds excess bulk, working with your ground insulation mat to deliver the ultimate weight saving performance

This bag has been designed with late summer and Autumn races, such as the Mourne Mountain Marathon and Original Mountain Marathon (OMM), in mind. For the outer we've used our lightweight water-resistant fabric, Ultrashell, which protects the down from condensation drips in a tent. “7X” (one of our lightest fabrics) and 950 fillpower goose down (our rare, exceptionally high grade insulation) allow us to create a superbly lightweight bag.

As with all PHD sleeping bags, this M.Degree° bag is made to order, so we can offer plenty of options. To begin with, a combination of 4 different lengths and 4 different widths allow you to get the perfect fit. Primarily this is because poor sizing compromises insulation, but it also means that you carry only what’s necessary.

Half- and full-length zip options allow greater flexibility in varying temperatures, while the foot-zip option is the ultra-light way to cool warm feet. Of course, to maintain minimum weight and pack size we’ve selected super-light zips.

Only available August and September.

Ultralight 7X fabric (weight: 22 gsm)

7X is our new sheer-light 7 denier fabric. An exquisitely fine rip-stop nylon, 7X is incredibly light, highly wind-resistant and has first-rate down proofing. This fabric helps us create the very lightest of gear in the PHD range. Of course the lighter the fabric the lighter the sleeping bag or down clothing, and the less space it takes up in your rucksack. This fabric is so light it actually helps to allow even greater lofting of the down too.

Foot zip

For the lightest and smallest pack a sleeping bag without any zips is king, but for those with warm feet, or even race blisters, a foot zip can be more than just a little luxury. Adding only 10-12g to the total weight of the bag, the foot zip is the ultralight route to comfort.

Ultrashell (weight: 40 gsm)

One of the lightest of PHD's coated materials. This ripstop nylon provides complete wind block and good water resistance at minimal weight. Ultrashell gives an excellent upgrade to performance with very little weight penalty.

Sleeping bag zips

  • No zip: The standard design on our lightest bags with open hoods. The simplest/lightest system which is a must for adventure racers. Up to 140gm (5oz) lighter than a full zip with draft tube.
  • Full zips: Full zip bags ventilate well, so they can be used over a wider range of temperatures.
  • Short zips: Short zips are lighter and pack smaller than full zips. A short zip & draft tube is up to 85gm (3oz) lighter than the full version.
  • Our full briefing on sleeping bag zips.

950 fillpower down

A newcomer to our range. European goose of rare quality. A high value alternative at the top levels of performance. More on our down insulation.

Construction

This bag has an insulating straight wall baffle system on top (no straight-through stitching). Straight wall is the lightest of all baffle sytems. In cross section it looks like this:

On the bottom stitch-through seams are used to minimise weight. More on sleeping bag construction.
